Today's Pour

Here is the list of wines we are pouring today (you can click on the image to make it bigger). You can buy a taste or a glass. These are all great examples of Oregon Wines that we have in our shop. Remember, we have The World's Largest Selection of Oregon wines and if you need to ship to family we now offer that service. Believe it or not it is time to start stocking up for the holidays. What better way to entertain your friends and family than with a great Oregon wine or beer?

Restaurant/Wine Bar Now Open!

We are now serving a full menu including appetizers, soups, sandwiches, daily specials, along with beer, wine and cocktails. I'll be posting the menus soon and the wine pours will rotate frequently so each time you come in you will have a chance to try a different Oregon wine.
Our hours have changed and we are open weeknights until 10:00 pm, Friday and Saturday nights until Midnight, and Sunday's 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. We hope to see you soon.

Coming Soon! Coffee and Cookies

Beginning next week we will be serving Sisters Coffee Company freshly roasted coffee and Otis Spunkmeyer freshly baked gourmet cookies. Don't be surprised if you walk in an smell the freshly brewed coffee and cookies baking in the oven.

We have been hard at work cleaning up the space in the back and transforming it into a small kitchen. Coffee and cookies are only the first steps. Soon we will have a more complete menu including soups, sandwiches, small plate appetizers, box lunches and decadent desserts. We will also be adding a weekend breakfast menu that is sort of a surprise so I'm not giving away any details just yet.
We still have a little more work to do in the back and once the food service begins we will be applying for a full unlimited liquor license which will mean you can come in and enjoy a glass of Oregon wine, beer or an infused vodka martini with your food. That will be a couple of months away as the OLCC has their process that takes a little time to get through. We will also be adding tables and chairs and window seating.

A little more about Sisters Coffee Company. If you have never tried their coffee we think you will fall in love with it as we have. For many years we have been traveling to Sisters, Oregon for the annual anitque show and we look forward to that event every year not only because it is a wonderful outdoor anitque fair in the beautiful park where deer roam through the aisles of antiques early in the mornings, but mosly because we can walk over to Sisters Coffee Company and get a cup of their freshly roasted coffee!
They will be roasting the beans right there in Sisters, Oregon and shipping them out immediately to us. You can be certain that the coffee you are enjoying was just roasted that week! In business since the 80's, Sisters Coffee Company has continued to grow and share their wonderful coffee. No longer is it a secret kept only in the high desert.

We hope to see you soon as we continue to evolve. We want to hear your feedback because we appreciate your business and value your opinions about how you would like to see our business develop.

2009 Denison Cellars Kiff Vineyard Pinot Noir

The Inaugural Release

A blend of pommard and 667 clones. Each contributs unique characteristics: 667 provides mid-palate volume and dark fruit flavors, while pommard adds red fruit, rose petal, chocolate, and structure. The resulting wine has rich mid-palate volume, velvety tannins, and a long, seamless finish with flavors of marionberry, raspberry, and black cherry that lead into notes of rose petal, chocolate and lavender.

110 Cases produced.
$44, but we have an introductory special of $35

Getting Ready for the Fourth of July

Whatever you plan to cook on the grill this 4th of July holiday, stop in and let us help you pick out an amazing Oregon Wine to pair it with. With over 400 choices currently on our shelves, you will find something in your price range that will be the perfect match.

Traditionally seasoned (salt, pepper, garlic) grilled red meats, like your favorite steak or ribs, are best matched with a heavier red wine such as a Cabernet Sauvignon or a blend. If chicken is on your menu, pick up a Chardonnay or Pinto Gris. Going for the all American burgers & hot dogs? You are safe to pair those with any heavy red wine. We have several suggestions for you. If the weather delivers and we have that 80 plus degree day as we are being promised, pick up a bottle of Rose to enjoy while you are preparing all of the great food you have planned.

If beer is more your style, choose from many locally handcrafted beers. There are some great summer seasonals this year. No matter what you choose it is best shared with good friends and family. We wish you a safe and happy 4th of July and hope to see you soon.

Here is one of my favorite classic summer recipes.

Caprese Salad

Fresh mozzarella slices, topped with sliced vine ripened tomotoes and basil leaves.

Drizzle extra virgin olive oil all over the top,

then season lightly with sea salt and black pepper.

Easy and delicious!

Tuesday Evening Wine Tasting

Join us Tuesday, June 28th as we welcome Apollini Wines for a free wine tasting. Stop by during the Tuesday Marketplace for a sip and check out the new wines that have been arriving. We now have the best selection of Oregon Wines in Washington County.

Apolloini Vineyards is located just off Hwy 6 west of us.

Wine Tasting Saturday

Tomorrow starting at noon we will be pouring tastes of Mia Sonatina 2006 Allegro.
This light bodied Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of blackberries and chocolate. Flavors of blackberry and chocolate with mild tannins. Pairs well with beef dishes, pasta with red sauces and dark chocolate.

At just $12 a bottle, this wine is a great value.

Wine Tasting Tuesday Evening

This week we will be pouring tastes of Utopia 2009 Pinot Noir Rose. Stop by for a free taste during the Tuesday Marketplace.

From the Utopia website:

This isn’t your father’s sweet rosé. It’s beguiling, light, and refreshingly dry. You’ll love the clean strawberry and cherry fruit. It was vinified using the French Saignee method, so it more closely resembles an imported European rosé and not the sugary stuff Gallo used to make in the olden days. This wine has the power to gain your attention and charm you with its elegance and finesse.

Waiting to be discovered

Wine Region Waiting to Be Discovered: Near Portland, it’s a dot on the radar – for now,” by Michael McCarthy, The Province (British Columbia, Canada), May 8, 2011

What are your thoughts? Are we really that 'undiscovered'?

Countdown to Opening Day

We will be opening our doors on Saturday, April 30th at 9:00 am.
The official grand opening party details are still being worked out. We hope to have the party sometime in June and are working to schedule wine tastings, prizes, etc. In the meantime, stop by to check out the store and give us your feedback. We are still looking for new lines to carry so we would love to hear about some of your favorite clothing and gift lines.

Be sure to join in on Facebook by "liking" our page - you can click on the button to the right and it will take you there. We will be posting more photos and info as the week progresses. We still have some work to do but the store is looking great and we will be ready to share it with you all on Saturday.

Opening Day is Near!

We are hoping to be open mid April, still so much to do. Taking a few minutes tonight to share some pictures of what you can expect to see at Primrose & Tumbleweeds Boutique.

More for the guys . . . our tie selection ranges from vintage to contemporary.

Opening Spring, 2011

We are busy putting some finishing touches on the building, ordering signs & business cards, getting the phone set up, designing the store layout and displaying the merchandise before we can open our doors in the next month or so. Primrose & Tumbleweeds will be our third location in Historic Downtown Hillsboro. We feel this store will be a great compliment to the other businesses already located downtown and hopefully bring some great new customers who will discover what we already know - Downtown Hillsboro is a great place to Live, Work, Shop & Play! Primrose & Tumbleweeds is a vintage and contemporary fashion boutique & wine shop, featuring both new and recycled clothing, vintage, jewelry, gifts, inspiration, textiles, accessories for men, women, and children. Our wine and food focus is on local wines, brews, cheeses and foods. We also offer alterations and repairs, custom bridal, vintage prop and costume rental and event styling services. Go to our Facebook page - Primrose & Tumbleweeds Boutique and click "like" to keep up on the latest info and some sneak peeks of what is to come.
